Breaking: Boko Haram attacks another village in southern Borno
Suffer humiliating defeat by troops
Reports reaching The Humanitarian Times indicate Yamarkumi, a village 5km away from Biu town in the southern part of Borno state.
Sources family with the incident said the gunmen stormed Yamarkumi village at 3 pm and began to shoot sporadically.
The source said the military had swiftly moved in to tackle the attackers as a further jet hovered over the demobilized gun truck belonging to the suspected ISWAP fighters.
The source said the Boko Haram terrorists who are based in Talala and Ajigin axis of Mandaragirau fled back towards the directions.
ISWAP had sustained attacks around Biu town since the attack on the Nigerian army institute of War in Buratai village. The insurgents had on Friday made a failed attack on Kautikari village which is also a few kilometres away from Biu.
Biu town is the seat of the Nigeria Army University established about three years ago by the former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai.
