Troops neutralise 5 ISWAP Gunmen In Biu

Reports reaching The Humanitarian Times indicates that at least five ISWAP gunmen had been neutralized in a thwarted attack on Mainahari village in Biu local government area of Borno state, Northeast Nigeria.
According to sources familiar with the development troops of 231 Battalion and 331 Artillery Regiment swiftly moved in and blocked off the terrorists as they made a futile attempt to attack the community.
This development was also confirmed by popular Twitter influencers and Boko Haram expert Zaga Zola who posted the report on his Twitter handle.
Zaga Zola said “the troops obliterated five of the fighters, with many of their weapons seized”.
“Items recovered from the terrorists are one gun truck, one Deshka M Anti Aircraft Gun, one HK 21 Machine Gun, one Rocket Propelled Grenade Bomb and 137 rounds of &12.7mm Anti-Aircraft Rounds,” he said.
ISWAP had in the past one week sustained attacks around the towns of Biu and Buratai in southern Borno state. On Tuesday, January 11, ISWAP staged an attack on Nigeria Army War Institute where part of the newly built facility was burnt down.
The terrorists had since then sustained a relentless onslaught on the surrounding communities of Biu.
