BREAKING: Gubio under heavy attack by insurgents

Disturbing reports reaching The Humanitarian Times indicates that Gubio, the headquarters of Gubio local government area of Borno state is currently under attack by Boko Haram insurgents.

Details of the attack is still smetchy.

A security source told our reporter that residents were forced to flee into the bush amidst heavy shooting.

Malam Mustapha, a deputy chief of Gubio told a family member in a phone call supervised by The Humanitarian Times reporter in Maiduguri that they are all hiding in the bush.

“We don’t know where we are right now,” he said. “We are still running for our lives.”

Mr Mustapha said he sighted an aircraft jet hovering around the skies of the town.

Gubio is 85km away from Maiduguri.
