Borno Gets New Accountant General

Baba Bura Usman was on Wednesday, September 14, appointed as the new accountant general of Borno state, a government statement reads.
The new accountant general’s appointment was announced by Isa Gusau on Wednesday night following the approval of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The new accountant general was the Director of Treasury Operations at the Borno State Ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning, since 2020 before his latest elevation.
Aged 57, Mr Usman who is from Kaga Local Government Area in northern Borno State, has been in state civil service for over two decades.
The statement added that the accountant general came with an impressive wealth of experience having worked in both private and public account
“The new Accountant General is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and Fellow of the Association of Chartered System Accountants,” Isa Gusau who is also an advisor to the governor on communication and strategy, said.
“Usman is also a member of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Institute of Management.”
Mr Usman gets his new appointment following the retirement of his predecessor, Adamu Ya’u who retired about six months after he was appointed.
