Dreadlocked man faking as police officer arrested with bullets, grenades

He was arrested by Nigeria soldiers along Maiduguri-Damaturu road

Soldiers under the Operation Hadin Kai counterinsurgency in Borno state have today arrested a man who impersonates as a policeman officer to commit armed related crimes.

The man who identified himself as Ebenezer OJeh was intercepted as he was travelling to Abuja from Maiduguri, with a bag filled with bullets and explosive devices.

Though he was nabbed adorning a mofty, Mr Ojeh, who wears deadlock claims he is a police officer from the SWAT Unit. He also carried a number tag with NPF456647 as his official service number.

Witnesses said the police officer has nabbed soldiers of 154 Task Force k Force Battalion of the Nigeria Army led by one Major DY Chiwar.

“The suspects who boarded an Abuja-bound Borno Express mass transit bus to Nigeria’s capital, was exposed when the vehicles got to a check point where vehicles and passengers were being stopped and searched.

“While the vehicle was waiting for its turn to be passed at the checking Point, the suspect dropped from the bus and claimed he wanted to ease himself,” the Intel Officer said.

“This elicited suspicion from the Commander who directed troops to search the suspect’s bag.

“On searching the bag, about 220 quantity rounds of 7.62mm Special, 1× hand grenade, a dagger and other items were discovered.

“When interrogated by the troops, Mr OJeh claimed he was personnel from the Police Unit Special Weapon Tactical Team (SWAT), from the Mobile Police Force 19 unit, Rivers State.

“The suspect and the recovered items have been handed over to the Headquarter Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai for further investigation.”
