Amidst Unwavering Insecurity, Nigeria military says 950 terrorists killed in 7 months

The Nigerian armed forces said at least 950 persons linked with Boko Haram terrorists have been killed by the troops in the last seven months.

The Nigeria defence headquarters had at a press conference disclosed that 950 terrorists died during fights with government forces between May and December last year.

Acting Director Defence Intelligence at the defence headquarters, Major General said “troops operational activities in Operation HADIN KAI theatre resulted in the neutralization of 950 terrorists including their high profile Commanders and Amirs.

The military added that “a total of 79 terrorists were arrested and 113 kidnapped civilians were rescued by the troops of Operation HADIN KAI within the period.”

Similarly, the military sad “a total of 195 assorted arms including AK-47 rifles, GPMGs, PKT guns and locally fabricated guns were recovered from terrorist elements in the course of the operations.”

The defence chiefs said the military had recovered 2,385 rounds of different calibres of ammunition and 253 rustled livestock

Troops had also recovered and destroyed 14 gun trucks of the terrorists during the operations, “while 16 gun trucks were captured by own troops.

“Furthermore, a total of 24,059 terrorists and their families comprising 5,326 adult males, 7,550 adult females and 11,183 children have so far surrendered to their troops in the North East
