Troops Recover 500 rustled goats from Boko Haram

Soldiers of the Nigerian military under Operation Hadin Kai, in Borno state, have recovered 500 goats from ISWAP rustlers at an outskirt location in Maiduguri.

The rescue operation which involved a brief gun shooting between the government forces and the terrorists led to the death of five of the rustlers.

A credible security source within the Theater informed The Humanitarian Times that an SOS message was sent to the Theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Chris Musa, by the affected herders, alerting him of the said goat rustling.

“The theatre commander had in his usual act of dispatch, ordered a special team of soldiers who went after the rustlers and intercepted them somewhere not far away from the popular Cashew Plantation in Jere local government area and engaged them until five of them were gunned down while other fled and left the goats, “the top security source revealed.

The goats have since been handed over to the concerned farmers having scrutinized them to ascertain their claims of ownership.

ISWAP and Boko Haram factions are known for animal rustling to fuel their infamous acts of violence and extreme ideology.
