Federal troops fighting insurgents in Northeast Nigeria have today repelled two simultaneous attacks in communities of Borno and Yobe states, sources said.
The Humanitarian Times learnt from sources with ears to the ground about the ISWAP operations in northern part of Borno that the gunmen targetted the communities in what appeared to be a coordinated hostility.
Babbangida town of Yobe state came under attack about 7.30 pm after local reported that they had sighted the insurgents moving in about five trucks toward the town.
The source said soldiers in Babbangida who were earlier warned quickly engaged them in a deadly shootout.
Similarly, at about the same time, the town of Malumfatori in Borno state also came under attack.
Though details of the two foiled attacks were sketchy at the time of filing the reports, sources said the troops may have inflicted so much injury on the fleeing gunmen.
